Hednesford Town v Runcorn Linnets

Friday 06/10/2023

On Saturday 7th October Hednesford return to Northern Premier league West Division action when Runcorn Linnets make their first ever visit to Keys Park.

The Linnets are currently sitting in mid table in 10th place in the league with 10 points from six games. They have won three times against Stalybridge Celtic (1-0), Witton Albion (4-2) both at home and at City of Liverpool (3-2). Their other point came from a 1-1 draw at Newcastle Town with their two defeats being a 2-1 home loss against Chasetown and a 3-0 beating at Kidsgrove Athletic.

In comparison The Pitmen are in 18th place just a point above the relegation places with five points from nine games, their only win being a 1-0 victory at Newcastle Town on 15th August. With there being just seven games being played in the West Division on Saturday a win could propel Hednesford up to 15th place. They should go into the game in confident mood following Tuesday night’s confidence boosting Staffs Senior Cup win over Uttoxeter. Goals from Star Mayemba (2), Danny Glover (2) and Max Dixon gave Hednesford a 5-1 win.

Runcorn Linnets was formed in 2006 as a replacement for the town’s previous club Runcorn AFC who had resigned from the Northern Premier League due to financial difficulties. The Club is run by the Supporters Trust and started life in the North West Counties League before a couple of promotions now sees them at Step 4.

The game will kick off at 3pm with bars and turnstiles open at 1pm and admission being £11 adults £8 concessions, £3 under 16s with £3 for car parking.
