Hednesford Town v Stalybridge Celtic

Friday 27/10/2023

On Saturday 28th October Hednesford begin another chapter in the club’s history when the Northern Premier League West Division encounter with Stalybridge Celtic will mark the start of Harry Harris and Steve Hinks reign in charge of The Pitmen following Danny Glover and Dan Crane’s departure from Keys Park. The appointment of the former Walsall Wood managerial team was confirmed on Wednesday after the previous incumbents were relieved of their duties following last weekend’s defeat at City of Liverpool which left Hednesford at the bottom of the table, four points adrift of safety with just one league win all season.

Stalybridge sit in fourth place in the league with 20 points from 11 games. Of those 11, five have been away and have seen Celtic win three (Hanley Town 2-1, Clitheroe 1-0, Newcastle Town 4-3) and lose two (Avro 2-3, Runcorn Linnets 0-1) while their home form has brought three wins, a draw and just one defeat. One of those wins came back on Saturday 2nd September when the hosts beat Hednesford 3-2. Hednesford had twice come from behind to level through Rivel Mardenborough and Max Dixon before the home side won it in the last minute through Max Harrop who has scored three
league goals this season, a total for Celtic only bettered by Matty Bryan with four and Aaron Dwyer with seven plus one in the FA Cup. Over the last 12 meetings between the two teams Hednesford have won six, Stalybridge four with four draws. The Pitmen’s best result was a 5-0 away win in November 2014, a 4-0 win again at Bower fold in August 2013 and a 4-1 victory at Keys Park in December 2013.

Kick off is at the usual time of 3pm with turnstiles and bars open at 1pm. Admission is £11 adults, £8 concessions and £3 under 16s with the award winning matchday programme available for £2.50.

Don’t forget that the game will be segregated with away fans using Gate 2A – cash or card and having access to Strikers Bar. Gate 3A will be for season ticket/pass holders, 3B home supporters – cash or card, 4A home supporters – cash only. Home fans will use The Chase Suite bar facilities.
