Tamworth v Hednesford Town

On Tuesday night, 7th November, Hednesford head across the county to Tamworth for a Birmingham Senior Cup second round tie after both teams received a bye in the first round. Hednesford and Tamworth are previous winners of the competition, Tamworth four times in 1958/59, 1963/64, 1965/66 and 2001/02 and Hednesford three times in 1969/70, 1973/74 and 2012/13.
Although they were in the same division last season there is now a gap between Hednesford and Tamworth with The Pitmen dropping to step 4 in the Northern Premier League West Division while The Lambs moved up to the National League North after finishing 2022/23 as Champions of the Southern League Premier Central Division. Tamworth have made a great start to life at step 2 and are top of the table with 32 points from 16 games and a home league record of six wins and two defeats. They are three points ahead of second placed South Shields who beat them 1-0 last Saturday and four points clear of third placed Scunthorpe who have a game in hand.
