Chasetown v Hednesford Town

Saturday 30/12/2023

New Years Day 2024 and Hednesford make the short journey to Chasetown for their Northern Premier League West Division game. Boxing Day’s win over Nantwich Town saw Hednesford move off the bottom of the table and another win could see them out of the relegation spots. Chasetown are just eight points above The Pitmen in 12th place with 26 points from 19 games and picked up one of those points in a 1-1 draw at Keys Park back on August Bank Holiday Monday in front of 1,486 fans. Jacob Gwilt had given Hednesford a 16th minute lead before Ryan Nesbitt equalised 18 minutes later.

Chasetown’s away form has seen them win twice, against Runcorn Linnets and Trafford, both 2-1, draw three and lose four while their first eight home games were played at Boldmere St Michael’s Trevor Brown Memorial Ground when their new artificial surface was being laid at Church Street. They won four of those games, drawing two and losing two. Since returning home they have beaten Witton Albion 3-2 and lost 0-1 to Runcorn Linnets. Their leading scorer is the evergreen Jack Langston who has eight goals including three penalties followed by Ben Lund with four. The current form table sees The Scholars in 17th place with five points from six games while The Pitmen are in 14th with seven from six.

Chasetown play at The Scholars Ground, Church Street, Chasetown, WS7 3QL which has a capacity of 3,000. Admission is £10 adults, £7 concessions, £2 U16s and kick off will be at 3pm.

Happy New Year to all Pitmen fans.
