Thursday 14/03/2024

On Saturday 16th March Hednesford travel up to Barnton where they will play 1874 Northwich in a 20th v 19th Northern Premier League West Division relegation clash. Bottom club 1874 Northwich have 17 points from 29 games with four wins and five draws making up that total. Hednesford are six points in front, having won five games and drawn eight to give them 23 points also from 29 games. Current form sees the home side picking up a solitary point from their last six games while Hednesford have four from six. 1874 have gained a point more on their travels than they have at home with wins at
Newcastle Town (1-0) and City of Liverpool (2-1) and three draws including one at Keys Park in December when Jack Kelly’s 27th minute goal cancelled out Jamie Nicholson’s fourth minute opener. On home turf they have beaten Vauxhall Motors (2-0) and Widnes (1-0) and drawn twice, 1-1 v Chasetown and 0-0 against Stalybridge Celtic while their last three home games have brought three defeats conceding nine goals without reply, their last home victory
coming back in October. They are the league’s lowest scorers by some distance, finding the net just 20 times and have also the worst goals against with 65. 1874’s leading scorers are Lucas Weir and Fenton Green who have three league goals each although both have now moved on to Leek Town.

The Pitmen will be without the suspended Jack Kelly, Lucas Yeomans who is injured and Ahmed Ali who has decided to join Atherton Collieries. 1874 Northwich groundshare with step 6 side Barnton Town of the North West Counties
