Hednesford Town v Leek Town

Friday 22/03/2024

Saturday 23rd March is the 14th annual non-league day and Hednesford Town are slashing admission prices for their game against Leek Town in a bid to ‘Pack the Park’. Adults can watch the game for just £5 while all concessions will be admitted for free. Season tickets holders can bring along one other person with them for free admission and there will
be 20% off all drinks in the bar for an hour before kick off and two hours after the final whistle with face painting and a magic show for the children.
On the field both teams will be looking for three points albeit for different reasons. The Pitmen need the points in their quest for survival after Tuesday’s draw with Vauxhall Motors left them in 19th place in the table, four points behind Trafford in 18th with just seven games to go. Leek on the other hand are league leaders, 15 points clear of second placed Runcorn Linnets and although they cannot finish outside of the play-off places, will be looking to take
another step towards the title. They have lost just three times on their travels this season at Chasetown (1-2), Bootle (0-2) and Runcorn (0-5), drawing three and winning nine. They are undefeated since that loss at Runcorn winning 15 and drawing two of their 17 league matches and are the division’s leading scorers with 75 goals, 21 more than City of Liverpool who are second highest with Rob Stevenson (19), Dan Trickett-Smith (15) and Tom Carr (13) responsible for 47 of those goals. The Blues also moved into the final of the Staffs Senior Cup this week after beating Stoke City 1-0 in the semi-final after beating Hednesford 3-0 in a previous round. It was the same scoreline when the two teams met at Harrison Park back in December.
A bumper crowd is expected on Saturday, so fans are advised to be there early. Gates open at 1pm for a 3pm kick off.
