Lycett Agrees Hednesford Deal

Wednesday 08/07/2020

As announced previously by Chairman Graham Jones live on Cannock Chase Radio FM, England schoolboy international Carter Lycett has agreed to extend his stay at Hednesford Town for the 2020/21 season.

Lycett broke through making his first team debut for the Pitmen last season and new manager Andy Morrell wasted little time agreeing a 1 year contract with the youngster who is seen as one of the most exciting young footballers in non-league.

Andy said “Carter is an exceptional young talent, last season was his breakthrough into the first team being in and around the match day squad, and the season ahead is another big one for Carter as he will want to establish himself as a regular in the side. He has the potential to really excel as a footballer and it speaks volumes that he has even been down at the club helping volunteer over the summer as well as getting involved with the youth academy”.

Carter’s signing is a demonstration of the pathway the club are making a big part of their DNA as he began with the clubs youth academy before making the step up to senior football and the young man is excited at the prospect of cementing his place within the Pitmen first team as well as learning from a manager as experienced as Morrell.

Carter also signed to become our Assistant Coach under the Pitmen’s Academy set up. A route to which Carter himself had came through. This will also assist in furthering his career development behind the scenes also. Bringing even more attributes to his skill set and abilities, both on and off the pitch.

Carter stated upon signing “I am excited and honoured to become part of the new beginning down at Keys Park Stadium. I am looking forward to developing, and becoming an integral part of the team. Huge developments have already taken place here at the home of the Pitmen following the new owners coming into the club, and with the team around me building very nicely, it’s great to be involved and look forward to the league starting and proving to everyone how far we as a team and individuals have come over a short period. I’m also looking forward to working within the Academy, assisting others to develop in the same manner that I have, along with the opportunities the Academy has opened up to myself”.

We can’t wait to see you in the Pitmen shirt next season Carter!
