Match Preview: Lowestoft Town (A)

Tuesday 23/02/2016

Matches continue to come thick and fast for the Pitmen with officials, players and supporters facing the longest trip of the season this evening when we make the trip east to Suffolk and the home of Lowestoft Town.

The Trawlerboys are in their second season at this level after gaining promotion and although they requested a switch to the National League South last summer this wasn’t granted and as such they have found themselves once again making the long trips north over the course of the last six months.

One of those trips brought them to Keys Park in October when despite scoring a goal in the second half, two strikes beforehand from Sean Williams and Tom Thorley ensured that the points stayed with ourselves.

Our only other trip to Lowestoft came in April last year when we were cruising to a 2-0 victory, thanks to a Jamey Osborne goal from the halfway line and second half strike by Lloyd Kerry, only for the home side to score two goals late on to earn a point.

After suffering disappointment last time on our own patch, manager Frank Sinclair is looking forward at attempting to get back to winning ways following the long journey to Lowestoft this evening.

Ahead of the game, Sinclair said:

“Games are going thick and fast now but despite the result on Saturday I thought in the second half we have showed a bit more spirit.

“We need to respond again like we did last Tuesday after a poor performance on a Saturday. This is a tough game, I know that Lowestoft work hard for each other and are on the back of two very good results.”

Andy Todd will miss out with injury while Shelton Payne is also still unavailable due to a prior engagement.

The Pitmen will be wearing their away strip for the game against Lowestoft.
