Player Profile (PITMENWEB.COM)
Centre back who rejoined the Pitmen after a short spell at Evo-Stik Division One side New Mills in September 2015
A defender with an impressive CV for his years, Regan was snapped up by hometown club Liverpool in the summer of 2009 for a nominal fee after catching the Reds’ eye whilst playing in the Wrexham youth system. In three seasons at Anfield, he played a number of games for the development squad and U21 squad, without making the breakthrough into the first team. A cultured, ball playing centre back, Regan won a number of caps for England at U16 and U17 level, captaining his country to the quarter finals of the 2011 U17 World Cup in 2011
Released in the summer of 2012, Regan was snapped up by npower Championship side Nottingham Forest, where he featured frequently in the reserve side at the City Ground. He was loaned to Tamworth in November 2012 on a youth loan, starting four times in the Blue Square Bet Premier before being recalled by new Forest boss Alex McLeish in January 2013
Six weeks later, he was loaned back to Tamworth once more on another youth loan, but did not see any action in the month as the Lambs sealed their step one status at the end of the campaign. After returning to Forest, he was released in May 2013
Tamworth moved quickly to snap Regan up on a permanent deal in May 2013, with the youngster starting Tamworth’s 3-0 defeat to high-flying Cambridge United in August 2013. Joined the Pitmen two weeks later after the club had allowed centre back Sam Barnes to leave the club and re-sign for Evo-Stik Premier League Marine. Made an assured start to life at Keys Park, playing his part in keeping a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Vauxhall Motors on his debut. After tree further games, where he improved with every appearance, he returned to Tamworth
Regan was loaned out to fellow Skrill North side Worcester City for three months almost immediately after returning to the Lamb, making ten starts for them over the winter period. After returning to Tamworth once more in early 2014, he was released after failing to get any assurances on first team football. He linked up with Skrill North strugglers Stalybridge Celtic, going on to enjoy a consistent period at Bower Fold over the next eighteen months
Liam Watson’s arrival at Stalybridge towards the end of the 2014-2015 campaign saw the end of Regan’s spell there, with the 23 year-old signing for New Mills just after the start of the new season in a bid to stay fit. The Pitmen moved to bring him back to the club in September 2015, with Regan making his second debut for the Pitmen in a 4-0 defeat to Alfreton Town
